Gordon, a middle-aged cook, and Arisa, his wild-woman companion, are still freewheeling their way through the desert on their food truck journey。 Fueled by good grub, it’s a sauna for the soul。 Meanwhile, Gordon’s former subordinate Kyle finds himself a new companion of his own—Arisa’s younger sister Myna! It’s time to put the pedal to the metal on this crazy food truck road trip!
It just didn't have the same impact as Crazy Food Truck, Vol。 1, we got left with what was felt like a pretty big cliffhanger and conclusion to why the girl is running away, only for nothing to be mentioned and the two travelling in the food truck again。 We get a brief flashback that half asses the explanation and then some story about a prince and another cliffhanger which better actually go somewhere this time。 We're also introduced to a sister character who now travels with the army guys, so It just didn't have the same impact as Crazy Food Truck, Vol。 1, we got left with what was felt like a pretty big cliffhanger and conclusion to why the girl is running away, only for nothing to be mentioned and the two travelling in the food truck again。 We get a brief flashback that half asses the explanation and then some story about a prince and another cliffhanger which better actually go somewhere this time。 We're also introduced to a sister character who now travels with the army guys, so we have two parallel stories about hungry girls travelling with dudes。 It's a fun premise but it needs to figure itself out as it should feel like filler so early on in a series。 。。。more
Working Man Reads,
There's something about the silly nature of this manga series that keeps me going。 Definitely not the greatest。。。 but entertainment nonetheless。 I enjoyed the little bits of the main plot we got in this one, I could have used more。 I'll be reading on to follow these characters。 There's something about the silly nature of this manga series that keeps me going。 Definitely not the greatest。。。 but entertainment nonetheless。 I enjoyed the little bits of the main plot we got in this one, I could have used more。 I'll be reading on to follow these characters。 。。。more
April Gray,
In this volume, we get some backstory on Gordon, and Arisa's sister, Myna, is introduced。 There's more intrigue going on in this volume, as we get a better look at the military and get some hints to what they're up to, and we see more of the future world。 I appreciate that about the combination road trip/on the run aspect of the story; it shows us interesting things about the world the characters live in without feeling contrived or info-dumpish。 We also meet some of Gordon's old colleagues, and In this volume, we get some backstory on Gordon, and Arisa's sister, Myna, is introduced。 There's more intrigue going on in this volume, as we get a better look at the military and get some hints to what they're up to, and we see more of the future world。 I appreciate that about the combination road trip/on the run aspect of the story; it shows us interesting things about the world the characters live in without feeling contrived or info-dumpish。 We also meet some of Gordon's old colleagues, and the food truck gets an upgrade。 Some bits were a little uneven, but I'm enjoying this story still。 There's only one more volume in the series, however, and I hope things don't end up getting rushed trying to fit in Arisa's background story; I want her to have a good ending。 Now, where's volume 3? #CrazyFoodTruckVol2 #NetGalley 。。。more

Lots of storytelling。 Flashbacks。 Plenty of humor。 Preparing for the big Volume 3 grand finale。 Strong 3 stars。

Gordon and Arisa have been cornered by Major Kyle! How will they ever esc- Oh。。。 apparently their food truck (named Jonathan) has an autopilot function as well as a gun mount。 So they escape to continue their food adventures across the desert。Meanwhile, Major Kyle is given new orders and a new teammate: Myna, Arisa's sister。。。 who is 8。 Please! Marisa,
Fun story as long as you ignore the naked girl。 This manga is aimed at adults, has a middle aged mc, and it has a 17 year old girl naked most of the time drawn in a oversexualized way。 This aspect of it is creepy。
Raye Porter,
Very excited for the third volume now!
Theresa,
I received a free digital ARC of this manga from Viz Media via NetGalley。 Gordon and Arisa are still traveling the desert in search of tasty treats to cook。 They enjoy desert sauna time, catch a pig for pork and go in search of sushi。 Meanwhile, Arisa’s little sister is working with Kyle and we still don’t know what military secret created the sisters。 We are starting to see more of the post apocalyptic wasteland and I enjoy the artwork and atmosphere。 I will continue this series because I’m clu I received a free digital ARC of this manga from Viz Media via NetGalley。 Gordon and Arisa are still traveling the desert in search of tasty treats to cook。 They enjoy desert sauna time, catch a pig for pork and go in search of sushi。 Meanwhile, Arisa’s little sister is working with Kyle and we still don’t know what military secret created the sisters。 We are starting to see more of the post apocalyptic wasteland and I enjoy the artwork and atmosphere。 I will continue this series because I’m clueless as to where the story is going, but I’m interested enough to continue。 Less fan service in this volume than volume 1, but still some。 。。。more
Bob,
Again so much fun for a visual read!
Ronald,
Oh, the young lady spends most of this volume "covered" at least she is not ripping off her clothes screaming "I'm Hot!" While I am interested that there seems to be an actual not food related plot forming here, the weird animals / food it turns out was more interesting。 The writer is really playing up the annoying naked lady being dumb as a rock。 But instead of just I don't know having her go it was just an act they introduce naked lady's "younger" sister。 The 8 year old is super smart。 I don't Oh, the young lady spends most of this volume "covered" at least she is not ripping off her clothes screaming "I'm Hot!" This was such a great volume! I always love the cooking scenes and this volume was no different。 We were introduced to some colorful characters and some interesting foods。 I'm very intrigued by the backstory and I can't wait for the next volume to see what else we learn。 Great volume! This was a fun read。 The story is just enough to hold it together。 The humor is decent but not side splitting。 I did enjoy all the songs while people cooked。 There is some really good art in this volume。 With only one more to go, I hope it ends well and doesn't feel rushed。 This was a fun read。 The story is just enough to hold it together。 The humor is decent but not side splitting。 I did enjoy all the songs while people cooked。 There is some really good art in this volume。 With only one more to go, I hope it ends well and doesn't feel rushed。 。。。more

Sandra,
In this post apocalyptic, waterless world, Gordon drives a food truck。 A superb chef, accompanied by a wild woman named Arista who is being chased by an army, he looks for the perfect ingredients to create his meals。 The leader of the army seeking Arista is now saddled with Arista’s younger sister。 For varied reasons, the two adversaries are descending on a small, unincorporated town。 The results bring disaster and leave readers wanting the sequel。 Great reading。 Includes questionable recipes!
Mark,
After their ramen fight, Gordon and Arisa are off to continue exploring and eating whatever comes their way。 But can the chill vibe of our freewheeling foodies hold out against the demands of serialized storytelling?Another volume of Mad Snacks Beyond Hungerdome, and it can’t quite reach the buoyant silliness of the first volume, sadly, although don’t worry, you’ll get the classic naked girl in water shot early on in case you were unaware which genre you were reading。Despite this having more of After their ramen fight, Gordon and Arisa are off to continue exploring and eating whatever comes their way。 But can the chill vibe of our freewheeling foodies hold out against the demands of serialized storytelling?Another volume of Mad Snacks Beyond Hungerdome, and it can’t quite reach the buoyant silliness of the first volume, sadly, although don’t worry, you’ll get the classic naked girl in water shot early on in case you were unaware which genre you were reading。Despite this having more of a narrative than the first story, it doesn’t hang together half as well。 It’s a little too talky, although I appreciate the very rational explanation of why Arisa is a bottomless stomach, and the story in question just isn’t that interesting。We knew Gordon was ex-military, but then to toss in his subordinates, some of whom we’ve seen, who are all weird and unique in some way? That’s a new one for shonen manga (cough)。 Arisa is a secret project and her younger sister gets introduced (mercifully not used for fan service), all pretty standard。It picks up towards the end, but not especially。 I have more tolerance than I normally would just because the action is also clearly aping American action movie cliches and I don’t mind those callbacks。 If you think Gordon is going to meet the guy who built his truck and the phrase ‘I’ve made some modifications’ isn’t going to pop up, well, I just don’t know…There’s a chapter that basically boils down The Treasure of the Sierra Madre into Cliff’s Notes (shame as this would have been much more interesting than anything else if it had been stretched further) that ludicrously ends with our heroes walking away from an explosion。 The mangaka knows what they want from the action, if nothing else。Which is not to say it isn’t fun, it is, but the first volume was way, way more engaging。 This is just mostly story with food digressions, whereas we had the reverse before。 And, given my previous thoughts on fantastic (read: impossible) cooking, saying that the narrative is less interesting than that is a big red flag。The art work is still good, there’s a two page spread towards the end that I would charitably label spectacular at conveying size and scale。 It’s not that this volume doesn’t have the right ingredients, but the blend is off。3 stars - I want to see the cliffhanger resolve, so I will give this another shot。 In today’s ‘life isn’t cheap’ economy, however, it’s definitely going to be on the bubble to slide off my reading list if it doesn’t come together a bit better。 。。。more
